Hi! I'm Zazi the Artist :)
I'm a queer, latine theatremaker who creates surreal and atmospheric shows. I play with stark color lighting, lyricism, and movement in order to achieve a poignant, ethereal quality to my productions. I believe in the importance of representation in art, and actively create theatre that speaks to the marginalized experiences that I identify with, such as womanhood, queerhood, and the latine/chicane experience. I also have a background in Classics, and aim to create a new framework for adapting ancient tragedies that will revolutionize the way current and future audiences connect with ancient works.

But...who the f*ck is Zazi the Artist?
I'm glad you asked! My "government" name is Zowie (pronounced like Zoey), and I'm originally from Southern California. I lived in Massachusetts for 4 years to pursue my bachelor's degree from Boston University, and in May of 2023 I graduated with my BA in Classical Civilizations with a focus in Ancient Greek Literature and Drama. In September of the same year, I moved to East London to pursue my MFA in Theatre Directing at the University of East London, which I completed in August 2025. My previous directing credits include Peter/Wendy (April 2021), The Importance of Being Earnest (April 2022), Melancholy Play (October 2022), and Paul Weller Takes Tea at Two (July 2025). I have also written and directed three one-act plays titled Maybe We Are the Satellites (May 2024), The Woman of the House of Atreus (July 2024), and They Weave with String that Suffocates (July 2025). My most recent directing credit is a 60-minute version of They Weave with String that Suffocates for the Lambeth Fringe (October 2025).
